About

“You just have to be here. It’s an energy. It’s not like your typical party you go to where it’s unfulfilling you know. It’s awesome, that’s all I have to say. You just have to be here to know.”

The Red Light House came to life in September of 2022, when Co-Founders Elena Bagne and Jenny Zander purchased their home on the border of Brooklyn Center and North Minneapolis. Since childhood they dreamt about curating a unique community art space that held not only their ideas but the ideas of artists all throughout the Twin Cities. The Red Light House was their dream come true after many years as practicing artists and entrepreneurs in their own crafts, Elena through her clothing company Minneapolis Made Apparel and Jenny through her work as a Body Artist and Photographer. This then manifested in the creation of a queer arts collective.

Their first event was in July of 2023 presenting their Annual Arts Fest that put them on the map. From there, The Red Light House has grown into a gathering space for artists of many mediums and voices; a space alive with imagination, collaboration, and the shared desire to create. Several other artists have joined the collective over the years, bringing new eyes and energy to the mission. Our newest addition to the creative cohort is Indie Rock Musician & Activist, Nova Muhammad. Nova’s focus in the collective is financial planning and creative coordination. Together they run The Red Light House.
